Instant Karma

What wonderful news yesterday, four vicious thugs sailing to club seal babies to death were drowned in rough seas. I hope just before they lost consciousness they were terrified and panicked, just like their victims as they struggled to escape from the naked apes.

Same email address to Hearn, the creep of a minister who defends them and accuses Sea Shepherd of being extremists for intending to go there and stop them. Journalists are being refused permits to witness the savagery for the world, but Sea Shepherd don't bother with permits from governments, they do what's necessary to protect the seas. It's their job, they're professionals. Unlike the brutish, ill-educated, no hopers who scrabble about on the ice amid the blood, ripping the skins off babies to sell to the fur trade.

Every diseased, ugly bitch who wears them should be singled out for abuse or worse. The fashion industry got militant on the fur issue a few years ago, but has since backtracked and is now deeply involved in the bloody trade. Time for some direct action at fashion shows I suspect.

So here's the info you need to get busy. But don't bother with politeness, just remember that some of these babies are just stunned by club blows and almost certainly come to lying naked of their skin on the ice, writhing in agony.

The British Fur Trade Association (BFTA) is offering fashion students the opportunity to explore the use of fur in fashion and discover the endless opportunities available here.

On the subject of 'wild fur' they state 'The welfare of wild or farmed fur species is of paramount interest to the fur sector' and 'The majority of wild species used by the fur trade are not taken specifically for their fur, but as part of wildlife management programmes. These are necessary for the maintenance of biodiversity and healthy eco-systems, population and disease control, and the protection of public lands and private property' This is, of course, a lie. You could tackle them on the seal carcasses left strewn over the ice. These animals are only killed for their fur, and wouldn't be if the fur trade refused to buy them. They ARE culpable along with the sickoes on the ice floes.

The International Fur Trade Federation which is an umbrella organisation for the fur trade has an interesting page of links to all their members here. And there's a new Canadian apologist website opening soon called sealsandsealing.net good to keep an eye on them.

info@furcouncil.com - Fur Council of Canada

And the Fur Institute of Canada try to hide under the banner of conservation to legitimise their vile trade. Animals are trapped, poisoned and shot, and they have the gall to call it conservation. And for anyone wanting to really go for them, this page has many links to fur companies and organisations.

More info on fur here.

The challenged

Americans may be used to having an idiot in charge of the country, but here in the UK we aren't, yet we have a gang of the challenged in charge, and if it weren't so serious for the future of the country, it would be a great source of fun. Don't get me wrong, I'm all for people with disabilities, whether physical or mental, having equal opportunities up to a point, but running a country isn't one of those areas where the stupids should be trusted to be capable.

Two illustrations of the seriously stupid ideas recently hatched by the hard of thinking:

1. Considering whether to hide cigarettes out of sight in shops which sell them as a means of continuing the health-nazi domination of every area of our lives. I don't smoke, but I object to the current attitude towards what is still a legal drug. However, legislation has already been passed years ago which requires manufacturers to print a variety of health warnings on every side of the packets, the view in a tobacconists shop, or other shops which sell them, is a row of health warnings. Hidden packets, apart from aquiring an illicit appeal by being 'under the counter' counter the health warnings. This is touted as a means of reducing children starting to smoke; but none of these shops sell them to children, for to do so would risk huge fines. Children aquire the smoking habit from their peers, some of whom will be old enough to legally buy them, and hiding them away out of sight will not affect that one bit.

2. Recently, the hard shoulder on some overcrowded motorways was opened up to traffic, not a good idea and hardly a solution to congestion or pollution. Now the wonks are proclaiming 'if you feel tired whilst driving, pull over and have a sleep'. What, on the hard shoulder now used by traffic? I foresee a series of shunts where motorists have followed this government advice. Perhaps government should come with a health warning.

If any more proof were needed that these people are seriously challenged intellectually, we have it in the recently stated intention of vastly expanding the UK's nuclear power stations, and, along with the French, persuading the world to do likewise, with some profit for the two nuclear cheerleaders of course. As no new build nuclear stations can possibly be built in the next ten years, and as rising sea levels will be well on the way by then, they will have to build them on stilts, and will probably decide to dump the waste in the sea where a lot of it ends up anyway due to BNFL being unable to keep it together.

Time to murder babies again

clubbing a seal

Anyone wishing to protest at the barbaric seal murder just commencing in Canada should email the minister here to tell him what you think of Canada and its determination to defend the actions of these perverts who smash a baby seals head with a large steel hook and often skin them still alive. This minister, Loyola Hearn, not only defends them, but celebrates the seal kill and claims it's tradition and part of their culture. What kind of culture is it which kills babies for their fur to make a few bucks? Sea Shepherd will be there soon, and I hope they take them on like they took the Japanese cowards on. They choose this time of year because the seals are on the ice to give birth and can't escape the two-legged psychopaths.

Sea Shepherd says:

Another phase of our seal defense campaign – the Seal of Approval Campaign – is in full swing. The boycott of Canadian seafood is being promoted by Sea Shepherd and many other organizations and has two parts:

  1. We are asking individuals around the world to refrain from buying Canadian seafood from restaurants or grocery stores until the slaughter of harp seals is ended.
  2. We are recruiting restaurants, hotels, and food distributors to agree to not sell or serve Canadian seafood until the slaughter of harp seals is ended.

blood stains the snow around seals carcases We need to expose what the Canadian government would like to keep hidden. We need to once again show the world the horror of the blood-drenched ice floes and the pitiful suffering of the young seal pups as they die. We need to keep the slaughter on the front pages in order to keep it from disappearing out-of-sight and, therefore, out-of-mind. This shot shows skinned seal bodies lying on the blood-drenched ice.

If you're Canadian, give them a telephone call on 613-990-7537 [media relations, Phil Jenkins] or 613-992-3474 [Joshua Zanin special assistant to the minister]. These people dirty Canada's name throughout the world. Tell them.

The ' Tibet Olympics' - the flame is lit

So the flame gets ignited in Greece amid protests against China, and so it will continue, every step of the way to Beijing. The bland, blank-faced liars from the Chinese Embassy continue to make statements which are so self-evidently untrue that even the media luvvies can see they're lies, but still they continue to mouth them, never knowing when to stop and cut losses, like a rather stupid five-year-old. There are Chinese among the pro-Tibet protesters, although these are people safely in the West, out of reach of the fascist Chinese police, but gratifying nonetheless.

The Greek police, perhaps nurturing admiration for China since Greece so recently was also a fascist state run by the military, were unnecessarily violent towards the demonstraters which will have pleased the Chinese. The Greek government claiming that they were deviling a sacred space, utter tosh of course, the Greek 'godesses' were dressed up for a piece of theatre; all Greece has left now its civilisation is lost in the distant past. If they didn't want politics to interfere, they should have kept countries like China out of the picture, but the IOC insisted, just like they did when Nazi Germany was host in 1939. So the IOC are to blame, although it couldn't have handed a better propaganda tool to Tibetans.

Anyone wishing to let the Chinese government know what they think of them, can visit here http://www.chinese-embassy.org.uk/eng/sgxx/t27049.htm where there's a list of email addresses and phone numbers at the embassy in London. Others will be able to find their own Chinese Embassies.

A couple of email addresses you might like to sound off to:

The ' Tibet Olympics'

Sponsors of the Olympics this year are Visa, General Electric and Coca Cola. The more people emailing them and telling them what they think of China and their support for a repressive police state will help to build pressure. Even if they don't withdraw sponsorship, and they're all in a panic over what to do, they might at least inform the Chinese government that they are receiving a lot of adverse publicity. The whole reason for supporting the Olympics for these companies is for the good publicity they will get, it's up to everyone to convince them that it could all be bad publicity.

Tibet won't go away no matter how many Tibetans they lock up. The smog won't go away no matter how many cars they temporarily ban from Beijing streets. The bears will continue to suffer crammed into tiny cages with catheters draining fluid from their bile ducts for superstitious Chinese 'medicine', and dogs will continue to be slaughtered and eaten in Beijing restaurants.

The corporate wonks at these companies need to be told that there are people in the world who care more about these things than about money or sport. These huge companies have charitable trusts or projects these days which, with a tiny sum given from the vast global profits, attempt to associate them with eco-friendly ideas and action, as well as human-based projects, giving a 'sustainable' and 'eco' or 'human rights' gloss to the companies. General Electric even has a Darfur project, which is a bit ripe considering that China is selling huge amounts of arms to the Sudanese government which is responsible for genocide in Darfur. Hypocrisy anyone?

Let's all help to make this the Tibet Olympics, to be compared with the 1936 games which the Nazis hosted and where Hitler used the Olympics as a tool for propaganda. Film-maker Leni Riefenstahl, a favourite of Hitler, was commissioned by the International Olympic Committee to film the Games. This is very reminiscent of those games, when the Nazis cleaned up the streets, removing Gypsies and putting them in camps for the duration, while Jews and Gypsies were banned from taking part, and only Aryans represented Germany. Let's hope there are a few politically aware athletes this time to use the opportunity to make a point. The IOC has never made a political stand, and this time seems bent on lauding China as a shining light, while ignoring all environmental, and human and animal rights issues. We must remind them.

I love Free - so do Tibetans

Just discovered a useful service which allows online storage of files; back-ups, photo, file, video and music-sharing, and anything else you wish, as well as FTP. You have to install a program called DriveHQ, which is a fast download from here, installs in seconds and is dead easy to understand and start using, being totally self-explanatory and intuitive.

You have 1 Gb of storage for free, as well as 206Mb a month for upload. You can have more but have to pay a subscription, which is fair enough. Did I mention it's fast? They claim it is 3 times faster than most other FTP software and I have no reason to doubt it, it's much like having another, fast, hard disc to copy files to. It's easy enough to try it out for free before you decide to spend any money.

Tibetans aren't so lucky. Even the official Chinese website isn't available to people outside China, designed for Chinese eyes only it is blocked to the outside world as much of China still is, and it is apparently showing Tibetans photographed in protests that the Chinese police state wants to identify and lock up, probably never to be seen again. The rest of the world's politicians should be joining Nancy Pelosi speaker of the house, in criticising China openly for its human rights abuses. The controlling fascist suits instead of taking criticism onboard, blame the Dalai Lama for 'orchestrating' all the demonstrations across China and Tibet, which would make him more powerful than Ossama Bin Laden. Actually, the Dalai has been trying to calm things down, pleading for non-violence and is willing to accept something less than full independence for his country which was invaded by China in 1950.

China's occupation of Tibet has had geological effects as well as human rights abuses. The Tibetan glacier has retreated 400 metres since China invaded the Tibetan plateau. As it supplies most of China with water, they will eventually suffer from their own actions; humans can't live long without water.

This is a perfect time for everyone to put pressure on China; the Olympics being the prime opportunity. Athletes should withdraw en masse, countries should withdraw their teams if they don't. Apart from the obvious issues of animal and human rights, no athlete who cared about their health would consider going to China to compete even if they cared nothing about dogs; already the leading African marathon runner has withdrawn due to pollution making a marathon run dangerous to his lungs, and athletes are appaently going equipped with breathing apparatus to use between races due to the dense smog that affects Beijing most of the time. Would anyone who valued their health risk it even if they cared nothing for Tibetans or all the Chinese dissidents who have been locked up in gulags without fair trials or all the dogs butchered for diners in the restaurants of Beijing?

China is now engaged in hunting down and locking dissidents away, and hoping the world will forget in the excitement generated by the Olympics. Everyone has a duty to stop this happening. We can no longer ignore the human rights abuses and go on buying cheap goods from China while they continue to abuse both people, animals and the environment.

Anyone wishing to let Chinese Olympic officials know what they think about Tibet and other issues such as the Chinese habit of keeping dogs to eat, displaying them in restaurants where diners can choose the dog they want killed and cooked, [including puppies for those who like tender flesh], can find all the email addresses here. I've pasted below for your convenience. As far as I'm converned, they're all fair game, I've already written to all of them telling them what I think of China and the Olympics. Athletes should be seriously considering if they should go; there's the dog issue, Tibet, and the pollution which is going to seriously damage their health - which gives me an idea...

I wouldn't wipe my arse on anything other than recycled

Every time you blow your nose with Kleenex tissue, you're blowing away an ancient forest. And every time you wipe your arse with Scott or Cottonelle, you're flushing old growth trees down the toilet. Most of the pulp Kimberly-Clark uses for its disposable tissue products comes from unsustainable sources. This includes wood from ancient forests like the Canadian Boreal Forest.

As the biggest tissue manufacturer on the planet, Kimberly-Clark has the resources to shift toward sustainability but it is refusing to use recycled paper in its products. Instead, the largest stretch of ancient forest in North America is being clearcut for disposable paper products.

Having used recycled toilet paper for years since discovering it, and kitchen roll also, I don't buy Kimberly Clark paper products, as far as I know, but I shall be examining the labels more carefully for any sign of this name, includind Scott who, if I remember rightly, used to be called Bowater-Scott, a British company not far from my home town. I might have worked for them except my life took a different turn. They now appear to have morphed into Bowater-Scott-Andrex, so that means Andrex tissues then. In fact, just in case, it's best to only buy recycled paper and then you know you aren't supporting the ripping down of ancient or young forests.

The whales are safe for now

The whale killing season is over for another year in the Southern Ocean, and Sea Shepherd are returning to base to refuel, restock and gear themselves up for the next action.

For filmmaker Rob Stewart, exploring sharks began as an underwater adventure. What it turned into was a beautiful and dangerous life journey into the balance of life on earth.
Driven by passion fed from a life-long fascination with sharks, Stewart debunks historical stereotypes and media depictions of sharks as bloodthirsty, man-eating monsters and reveals the reality of sharks as pillars in the evolution of the seas.
Filmed in visually stunning, high definition video, Sharkwater takes you into the most shark rich waters of the world, exposing the exploitation and corruption surrounding the world’s shark populations in the marine reserves of Cocos Island, Costa Rica and the Galapagos Islands, Ecuador.
In an effort to protect sharks, Stewart teams up with renegade conservationist Paul Watson of the Sea Shepherd Conservation Society. Their unbelievable adventure together
starts with a battle between the Sea Shepherd and shark poachers in Guatemala, resulting in pirate boat rammings, gunboat chases, mafia espionage, corrupt court systems and
attempted murder charges, forcing them to flee for their lives.
Through it all, Stewart discovers these magnificent creatures have gone from predator to prey, and how despite surviving the earth’s history of mass extinctions, they could easily be wiped out within a few years due to human greed.
Stewart’s remarkable journey of courage and determination changes from a mission to save the world’s sharks, into a fight for his life, and that of humankind.

Shark Finning

What is Shark Finning?
• Shark finning refers to the removal and retention of shark fins and the discard at sea of the carcass. The shark is most often still alive when it is tossed back into the water. Unable to swim, and bleeding to death, the shark suffers a slow death where 95% of the animal is wasted.
• Shark finning takes place at sea so the fishers have only the fins to transport, and have no need for refrigeration. Shark meat is considered low value and therefore not worth the cost of transporting the bulky shark bodies to market.
• Any shark is taken – regardless of age, size, or species.
• Long lines are the most widespread method of fishing for sharks.
• Shark finning is widespread, and largely unmanaged and unmonitored.
• Shark finning has increased over the past decade due to the increasing demand for shark fins (for shark fin soup and traditional cures), improved fishing technology, and improved market economics.
• Shark specialists estimate that more than 100 million sharks are killed for their fins annually.
• One pound of dried shark fin can retail for $300 or more. It’s a multi-billion dollar industry.

Impacts of Shark Finning
• Loss and devastation of shark populations around the world. Experts estimate that within a decade, numerous species of sharks will be lost because of long lining.
• Unsustainable fishery. The massive quantity of sharks harvested and lack of selection deplete shark populations faster than their reproductive abilities sustain.
• Threatens the stability of marine ecosystems.
• Loss of sharks as a food staple for many developing countries.
• Large industrial, foreign fishing vessels that threaten traditional sustainable fisheries invade local waters.
• Obstructs the collection of species-specific data that are essential for monitoring catches and implementing sustainable fisheries management.

Are there laws against shark finning?
• Each country with a coastline is responsible for laws and regulations pertaining to fishing in their waters.
• A number of countries have shark-finning legislation. Many stipulate that fins must arrive in a 5 per cent weight ratio of the shark carcasses onboard. Only a few countries demand that sharks arrive in port with fins attached.
• According to the IUCN Shark Specialist group, the easiest way to implement a ban is to require that shark carcasses be landed with fins attached. The possession of fins alone on vessels would thus be illegal.
• Shark finning violates the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization’s Code of Conduct for Responsible Fisheries.
• Shark finning is contrary to the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization’s International Plan for the Conservation and Management of Sharks.
• The United Nations Convention on the Trade of Endangered Species of Flora and Fauna (CITES) lists the whale shark, basking shark, and great white shark as species that could become threatened if trade is not controlled. To date, 169 countries have agreed to be legally bound by CITES.

The machinations of power

On the day when the queen opens terminal 5 at Heathrow airport, it is hardly surprising that those opposing the expansion of Heathrow feel that they have no chance of stopping it growing. Whatever Brown may say about Britain ‘taking the lead in combating climate change’ it is yet more meaningless babble from one of the masters of spin or lies as we used to call it. Today’s opening of terminal 5, amid the arrest of protesters, illustrates the close ties between BAA, the ‘owners’ of Heathrow, and the Brown Government.

Spokes-whore of Spanish-owned BAA is Tom Kelly, who joined them in October last year as group director of corporate and public affairs, a few months after retiring from Downing Street as Tony Blair's official spokesman. When it began lobbying in earnest for airport growth in the UK, BAA supported the lobby group Freedom to Fly. At that time, the director of BAA's Public Affairs was Steve Hardwick, who had previously worked for four years for John Prescott who was later in charge of transport policy.

Freedom to Fly was headed by Joe Irvin, Prescott's former special adviser, who is now working inside Number 10 for Gordon Brown. The group was chaired by Brenda Dean, a New Labour stalwart and former trade union official.

Labour MPs have recently been invited to a drinks and nibbles reception by Lord Soley, the former chairman of the Labour Parliamentary Party. It's been paid for by Future Heathrow, a lobby organisation backing the expansion of the airport.

And they call it democracy. I call it pigs at the trough, and with the recent revelations of how much they've been helping themselves to in so-called 'expenses' including many thousands of tax payers money on a second home, it's not difficult to see the attraction of being an MP. That their expenses far exceed what ordinary people earn from full time employment only deepens the divide between us and those who supposedly represent us, but who in effect represent themselves and the vested interests who feather-bed them.

The net just gets fuzzier

I find it strange how everything these days, from mobiles to web sites can't just do the one thing and do it well, they have to have extras to fight off the opposition, and this leads inevitably into things morphing into something else. Not content to just be mobile phones, they are now digital cameras, video cameras, internet browsers, mobile email readers, satnavs and probabably one is about to be released which microwaves a lunch snack.

So also with web sites; social networking proved so popular and made the originators so much money that there's been a scramble every since to grab some of the action. Search engines are becoming social networking sites as well, linking sites are including social networking aspects, blogging has become the one thing that defines a lot of people and friends all have a to have a blog or they'd be out in the cold. The fact that these 'blogs' are eye candy with no content may say something about the democratisation of the web, or just about that individual's lack of creativity or need to communicate, but somewhere along the line the whole idea of blogging seems to have become fuzzy and describes on the one side political blogs and writer blogs, individualist blogs, business blogs which aren't really blogs but an extension of the marketing department, and teen blogs as described above.

In fact the widget seems to have become the new obsession in certain quarters, you just gotta have all the widgets on your blog or you just ain't equipped! What most seem to promise is instant feeds between sites, ok, but what do you do with this instant information? The answer seems to be not very much. Just having the capacity to use it, having the widgets is satisfying enough. I just got an email informing me a brand new widget had been created at blogcatalog, and how everybody was really excited about it. A bit like any hobbyists excitement at some new 'thing' of their esoteric minority interest.

So everything is merging because nothing has any defined edges; social networking, forums, blogs, blog networks, search engines with blogs and forums trying to steal a march on Google, but of course they are way behind.

I think I preferred it when a blog was precisely that, a web log, or journal. It still is for many, but you have to wade through a lot of eye candy smothered in widgets all blinking away and using up bandwidth to the extent that some can take several minutes to load. All of them are now becoming obsessed with making money online, few will manage it but they will provide the means for others to make a pile out of their dreams.

But at least among the jetsam and flotsam some beautiful sites glide out of the mist, magnificent inventions of their creator's very individual take on life, jewels in a desert they may be but they make it all worthwhile.

There's a global petition to ban whaling for good here. Please take a moment to sign it. It had as its goal a million signatures, it's already exceeded that by thousands, so you could help make it to 2 million. Whatever it takes to stop the Japanese, Norwegians and Icelandics from ever again going out to slaughter these breathtakingly amazing, gentle creatures. Sea Shepherd can't do it alone, they need our help, and if you can't get down to the Southern Ocean, everyone can make it to sign an online petition, it takes no effort at all.

I'm still banging away at Qassia.com where I'm 3rd in the top five authors of original content and one of my sites is 20 in the top fifty sites on the landing page. This means lots of quality links into my sites, and as Qassia is rated 28,098 by Alexa, that has to be a very useful link. I'm not counting on making a lot of money from the google ads they place on every page for which they share revenue, they may or may not make a few pennies, but the links are worth the effort, and with over a hundred pieces of content, or intel, written, that's over 100 links to my URLs, and not costing a penny.

Japanese coastguard shoot Sea Shepherd founder Paul Watson

Once again Sea Shepherd has clashed with the Japanese whaling fleet, this time the Japanese costguard, who are very far from the Japanese coast in the Southern Ocean, have shot Paul Watson, founder of Sea Shepherd and captain of their ship, the Steve Irwin. Paul is unharmed due to wearing a Kevlar bullet-proof vest which was dented by the bullet, which Paul now has as evidence. They were also throwing thunderflashes at them, and two crew members were injured with these. I think the time has come to really attack these cowards with whatever it takes to send them scuttling home.

This could have been so much more serious. Without the vest he would probably be dead now, and the world would be mourning a very brave man who has dedicated his life to saving whales from the murderous filth that still go off and shoot explosive harpoons into their bodies, then drag them behind their ship by barbed hooks, bleeding into their internal organs, and dieing slowly in agony. If people were hunting elephants in Africa from trucks with huge harpoons fired into their bodies and then were to drag the animals behind their truck for hours across the plains while they died bloodily and in agony with their baby in panic running blindly behind, there would be uproar across the planet. Because it is happening to whales out of sight of all of us in the Southern Ocean doesn't make it any more acceptable.

This barbaric practice that degrades every human being has got to stop. Sea Shepherd is out there on our behalf trying to stop it, and these coward shit themselves and run every time Sea Shepherd gets near them. Most Japanese don't eat whale meat, there are increasing stores of it piling up in Japan, and even a recent attempt to force primary school children to eat it failed. Many Japanese are opposed to this vile slaughter, yet the government persists in supporting this small gang of perverts who just won't accept and admit they are in the wrong.

The Japanese, of course, deny it happened, they would. They also lie about it being for scientific research, it isn't. Please everyone who reads this, make your voice felt, tell the Japanese government what you think of them, harass them at their embassies, find the email addresses of officiuals who may be implicated and tell them how you feel. If possible, go to the Japanese embassy in your country and protest. If you are Japanese, know that this vile practise is making Japan a pariah nation, tell your government to stop supporting the insupportable. The media will for a short while report this story because a human being was almost killed. But the whales are being killed daily in the most disgusting way possible and the media lose interest and move on to other stories, other excitements, it is up to everyone to keep reminding them what is happening to a sentient creature we barely know anything about yet are on the verge of driving to extinction.

Spare a thought for the whales today, do something, at least write or phone an embassy or tourist site, it may seem trivial but it all adds to the mounting pressure on Japan to stop this barbarity. Support Sea Shepherd. And if you would like to vent your anger and disgust this site gives a list of Japanese government agencies; email as many as you can, it all helps to build pressure on them to reconsider their policy. And in case anyone has forgotten the argument against buying anything made from wool http://www.savethesheep.com/ will tell you why you should avoid it.

A neat trick

On occasion a website will have print so small that you are straining to see it, I have a problem myself with this one as the text here can be too small when I view it in a browser, but it's a hassle changing the print size. Or so I thought. I just learned of a really quick way to do it. If you hold down the CTRL key on the keyboard and use the scrolling wheel mechanism on your mouse, the font on your screen will either enlarge or get smaller depending on if you scroll up or down. That's if you have a mouse with said wheel, if not, go get one, they're handy. Scroll towards you to enlarge the print, and away from you to make it smaller again. Why not try it on this page you are reading now. Neat huh?

The Nazis are on the march

Israel's Defence Minister threatened 'a bigger shoah [holocaust]' thus with one word justifying my calling the Jewish state nazis, for which I have taken much stick form defenders of Zion as have others who have compared their callous disregard for how many children and civilians they kill. It looks as if they have started it again; air attacks on Gaza are in progress as I write, children are among the dead. They were probably militant children.

They were certainly children who would have grown up hating Israelis, what else could be expected when your life is curtailed, miserable, poor and brutalised by them? Kept in what is virtually a concentration camp, the big sin of the Palestinians has been to fight back, they were supposed to just accept the Jewish theft of their land, added to over the years as their ever growing numbers of immigrant Jewish settlers needed some land to settle. The major problem seems to be that not only do the nazis who run Israel reject all criticism of their actions by the world at large, they reject all criticism even from Jews; the former are antisemitic, and the latter are self-hating Jews. Fascinating logic, and impossible to reason with.

Actually, I think Harry the Prat dressed up as a nazi for a party a few years back, and got a lot of stick for it, especially from the holocaust industry, who make it their business, while defending the actions of Israel every time. So they are offended by a prat dressing as a nazi, but not with children being blown apart by indiscriminate bombing.

The Prat is back of course, a swaggering, unshaven and grubby hero - I'm sure the British Army has theatrical directors these days, they've all studied the films of Rommel and Richard Attenborough in the desert, and, with a little bit of Laurence thrown in, they all stop washing for the duration they are on active service, grow beards and hair that would make sergeant majors apoplectic, and with guns casually worn become every boy's idea of a returning hero after a romp. Scenes from this will be replayed in Army recruitment videos for years.

Let's hope he has the killing out of him at least for a bit, so that the wildlife of Sandringham can survive a visit by the soldier home from the war with emotional issues. Not that I think the Prat will have this problem, he's far too shallow for girly things like emotions. He's a chap's chap, and his father's son.

Time to move to higher ground

the Fool as a young boy

The time to move to higher ground link [above] will change from time to time, illustrating how this phrase has become more and more common of late; from New Orleans, to Fiji to East Anglia to Holland.
I moved to higher ground in 2000 when it was clear that flooding was becoming the norm and climate change was happening now.
On the journey west, we passed flooded fields right across the midlands, it felt almost apocalyptic.
Since then, floods have become common in the UK and many other countries.

Fadhel Al-Sa'd: The sun circles the Earth because it is smaller than the Earth, as is evident in Koranic verses...No verse in the Koran indicates that the Earth is round or that it rotates. Anything that has no indication in the Koran is false.

The scenes from this war will create thousands maybe even millions of militants intent on inflicting damage on the only superpower. The war will be waged across America and in any American outpost and embassy. It will be brutal and messy and will continue for decades. Bush doesn't know what he has unleashed.
